Gideon Davies, FRS leads a research group in the Department of Chemistry at the University of York, U.K. Following a PhD in Bristol, UK, he worked at the EMBL Hamburg Outstation and Grenoble with periods in Uppsala and Vancouver.

Simon Coles
Simon Coles obtained his BSc and PhD in structural systematics and molecular modelling at the University of Wales, Cardiff before a PDRA appointment with the Royal Institution to build the world’s first dedicated small molecule single crystal beamline, 9.8, at the Daresbury synchrotron.

Herman van Tilbeurgh
After completing a Master’s Degree in Chemistry at the University of Ghent (1976–1980), Herman van-Tilbeurg pursued doctoral studies in Biochemistry at the same institution (1981–1986), focusing on enzyme mechanisms.

Laurence CROGUENNEC
Laurence Croguennec is CNRS Research Director at the Institut de Chimie de la Matière Condensée (ICMCB-CNRS, France) at the Bordeaux University. She graduated (PhD) in 1996 from Nantes University at the Institut des Matériaux Jean Rouxel (France) and spent one year as a Post-Doc at the Bonn University (Germany).

Patrick Cordier
Patrick Cordier is professor of Physics at the University of Lille and a member of the Institut Universitaire de France. Trained as a materials scientist he obtained his PhD at the University of Lille on the hydrolytic weakening of quartz.
